Valley of Fire is located 50 mi (80 km) northeast of Las Vegas and Nevada's oldest state park. It was dedicated in 1935. It derives its name from red sandstone formations, formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs. These features, which are the centerpiece of the park's attractions, often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun's rays.

This little State Park is in our opinion the park with the most colourful rocks in the United States Unfortunately the State Park live up to one's name ... it was 112°F (45°C). So a lot of things we couldn´t do. Have a look on our US-Trip in 2010. There was a "cool" 86°F (30°C).
