Dybbol Banke | Sonderborg | Denmark | 2012-08-30
The Battle of Dybbøl (Danish: Slaget ved Dybbøl) was the key battle of the Second Schleswig War and occurred on the morning of 18 April 1864 following a siege starting on 7 April. Denmark suffered a severe defeat against the German Confederation, which decided the war. During the battle around 3,600 Danes and 1,200 Prussians were either killed, wounded or disappeared. On the field of Dybbøl were formerly national symbols of both warring sides: the Danish Dybbøl Mill and the German Düppeldenkmal. Dybbøl Mill still stands, but the German victory monument was blown up in 1945. Origin: wikipedia

Cemetery | Broager | Denmark | 2012-08-30
In Broager, between Sonderborg and Krusa, there is Denmarks only 2-towered church.
Around this nice building it is the cemetery and a monument to remember the Broager victims of World War 1. In Nybol there is a little church with cemetery which I visited later that day.

Augustenborg | Sonderborg | Denmark | 2012-08-24
Augustenborg Palace is a Rococo-style palace in the southwestern part of Augustenborg, Als Island, Denmark, overlooking Augustenborg Fjord. The palace owes its name to Duchess Auguste. The original half-timbered manor house was built in 1660-4 by Ernest Günther. The largest room in the castle was the church hall, which dates from the late 18th century. It is a successor building of an older chapel from 1671, which was demolished before the construction of the castle. Origin: wikipedia

Rendbjerg | Sonderborg | Denmark | 2012-08
Rendbjerg/Denmark was the place where we spent our summer holiday 2012. We hired a house and lived there for about 3 weeks. It was a perfect relaxing time with a harbour and a playground nearby. We made some daytrips f.e. to Flensburg/Germany (20km) and to the island Romo/Denmark (100km).
